Prep School children have raised over £2,600 for charity between June and September 2009 and a special assembly was held on Thursday 15 October to present cheques to the U Foundation and Marie Curie.
Over 100 pupils took part in the charity fund-raising Humber Fun Run in June 2009, which was organised by the Rotary Club of Hull. Pupils also donated money during the Harvest Festival and laid a trail of coppers along the Prep playground as part of the recent Maths Day.
Mr Bill Deakin, President of the Rotary Club of Hull, addressed the pupils to thank them for their fund-raising efforts and Cheryl Barrett talked to the pupils, again to thank them. Mrs Elaine Eccles, a parent of the school who has been to Zambia to witness the good work of the U-Foundation, gave a presentation which showed the pupils exactly how their money is spent on building schools for Zambian children.
A cheque for £1,000 was presented to Cheryl Barrett from Marie Curie Cancer Care by the Head Boy and Head Girl, Tom Whitley and Chloe Barton. £1,600 was presented to Jay Tailor, from the U-Foundation by the Deputy Head Boy and Deputy Head Girl, Reece-Patrick Hughes and Maddie Beharrell.
Hull Collegiate School would like to thank everyone who took part in the special assembly.
