The Under 11 footballers are the proud winners of the Independent School Association North of England 5-a-side tournament.
Twenty schools attendent the tournament in Grimsby on Monday 8 February and came from as far afield as Sunderland, Liverpool, Harrogate and Manchester. The successful top 4 teams are then invited to the National ISA 5-a-side held in Suffolk in March.
"Our competition began with a hard fought 2 – 1 win against a feisty side from Liverpool, followed by a 1 – 1 draw against Firwood Manor from Oldham, who had earlier in the season knocked us out of the Umbro Cup," commented Mr Andrew North, Prep School Sports Co-ordinator. "We won with a comfortable score of 8 – 0 against Beech House ‘B’ from Altrincham, and secured a semi final place with a 1 – 0 win over St Martin’s from Grimsby. We were through, we felt, without really yet playing our best football. That was to change with a 4 – 1 win over Beech House ‘A’ where we played stunning football. This trend continued into the final where a narrower 2 - 0 score line against Argyle House from Sunderland did not reflect our dominance in that match."
Congratulations to a very committed and talented group of footballers: Jordan Weatherill, Bradley Redfearn, Elliot Adamson, Will Gray, Henry Oliver and Tom Whitley.
