Nick Grimwood, Clara Martin and Hannah Williams report on the Japanese Club which has been an extra-curricular activity since September 2009:
"We, an inquisitive group of Year 10 linguists, have been learning a basic course in Japanese since September, organised by Mr Stephenson and delivered by Mrs Smith of the Prep School.
Mrs Smith lived in Japan for two years and has an extensive knowledge of this country. She therefore offered to teach us about Japanese culture and traditions, along with the two alphabets of Japan – Hirigana and Katakana. This has enabled us to learn the basics of reading, writing and speaking the language.
This opportunity does not come along every day, and we are grateful for this chance to learn such an unusual language. ‘Arigato’ (Thank you)."
