On Tuesday 4 October, the Prep School assembly celebrated Harvest Festival.
The stage was overflowing with generous donations of tinned and packet foods, as well as the traditional sheaf of corn loaf. Year 6 readers reminded us of the story of the world being made and read poems about all aspects of God’s creation. We were delighted to welcome Rev Steve Wilcox from St. Peter’s Church in Anlaby, who showed the children some photographs of things to be “amazed” at in our world.
The Prep School music teacher, Mrs Smethurst, then delivered all of the donated foodstuffs to HULLHARP at The Crossings, where it was most gratefully received. The school has already received a letter of thanks from residents and staff. Alongside our Harvest foods were some beautifully decorated envelopes which the pupils designed themselves and these are now displayed on the charities board, containing no less than £285 for the work of the U Foundation in Zambia. These monies will be added to the proceeds from the Fun Run and presented after half-term.
Thank you to all parents for their kind generosity and support in teaching the children a valuable lesson about sharing what we are so fortunate to have with others less fortunate than ourselves.
