Year 5 trip to Cranedale

On Thursday 13 October, 27 intrepid Year 5 pupils and four teachers set off for Kirby Grindalythe in North Yorkshire to spend three very busy and exciting days at the Cranedale Centre.

The children participated in such diverse activities as a village study, a gravestone survey, stream dipping, griff scrambling and playing a very exciting game of Fox and Grouse on the North York Moors near to the Hole of Horcum. One or two children proved very adept at hiding from the “foxes” until their colourful and crazy hats gave them away!

The final day saw them trying their hand at orienteering and the “low ropes” obstacle course. The highlights of the trip?  The way the children developed their teamwork skills as the trip progressed, the variety of activities and the fantastic food!

The Year 5 pupils would like to thank Mrs Hazel, Mrs Meltham, Mrs Stewart and especially Miss Barley for all her hard work organising the trip.
