Prep School choir sing to a packed City Hall for Voice in a Million

Over 50 Prep School pupils, aged 7 – 11, sang in the Voice in a Million concert at Hull City Hall on Tuesday  29 November.

The concert involved children from several local schools and told the story of an orphan at Christmas.  The songs included many well-known Christmas favourites with the story highlighting the importance of families at Christmas.

The Prep School children sang with great enjoyment and gusto, having learnt a substantial amount of material in a very short time.

Mrs Karen Williams, Head of the Prep School, said, ‘I am so proud of our children.  They sang beautifully and were a real credit to the school.  It was wonderful to see so many of our pupils singing in this event and they were greatly inspired by Charlotte Beard from Year 9 who sang some of the solos.  This is only the first of many choir performances in the run-up to Christmas and I am sure that we are in for a treat next time they sing.’

The Voice in a Million choir was launched in 2009 by Jo Garofalo and her husband, who had adopted two children. They wanted to create awareness of the many thousands of children in the care system who need loving families and homes. The choir has grown to over 20,000 in two years, selling out huge arenas, including the O2 arena, as well as releasing an album. The show at Hull City Hall is part of a new addition to the choir’s repertoire which is touring regional theatres.
