Hull Collegiate 8s - the annual Football Competition

Internal Image

This year was the fourth year Hull Collegiate School hosted an 8-a-side football competition. There were 14 teams involved this year and 49 individual matches played. It was a great competition and all the teams involved played in the right spirit. After drawing 0-0 with Birkdale (A), The Grammar School at Leeds (A) and Rishworth, Hull Collegiate (A) team found wins against Fulneck (1-0), Bootham (1-0) and Queen Ethelburga’s (1-0) and eventually found themselves top of their group and into the final against The Grammar School at Leeds (B), where after a tight 0-0 draw, Hull slotted home all their penalties in the shoot-out to win the 2012 HCS 8s.

A huge well done to all the players involved in the competition, especially the winners who defended tightly throughout, did not concede a goal (even in the penalty shootout) and were deserved winners on the day.

Another mention should go the Hull Collegiate (B) team who narrowly lost on penalties to Rishworth to eventually finish a respectable eighth.
