One of the most exciting aspects of the Spanish courses at Hull Collegiate School is the opportunity to take part in video conference sessions with a school in Argentina. These sessions are always eagerly anticipated and thoroughly enjoyable – it’s thrilling to talk to people on the other side of the world and to learn about their culture first hand – as well as challenging and stimulating.
They were a great help with my A level Spanish, too, as talking to native speakers is a very different experience from learning the language in a classroom environment; my listening and conversational skills improved as a result and my vocabulary broadened. Needless to say, we always had fun as well – in one particularly memorable session, my classmate and I were taught to dance the tango!
Pupils at the school are very lucky to have this chance; it’s a unique experience and an opportunity I feel privileged to have been given.
