Organisation of the Curriculum

The Curriculum is organised as follows:

  • Foundation Stage           Kindergarten and Reception
  • Key Stage One (KS1)     Years 1 and 2
  • Key Stage Two (KS2)     Years 3 to 6

Foundation Stage Profile

This is a form of continuous assessment which takes place throughout the children’s reception year and culminates in a final summary at the end of the year. Children are assessed on six areas of learning:

  • personal, social and emotional development 
  • communication
  • language and literacy
  • mathematical knowledge  
  • knowledge and understanding of the world
  • physical development and creative development

 

Key Stage One and Key Stage Two 

Our Curriculum is based on the National Curriculum.

The following subjects are taught in KS1 and KS2: 

  • English                                         French                                   
  • Mathematics                                 Art
  • Science                                        Drama
  • ICT                                               Design Technology
  • History                                         Games and Physical Education
  • Geography                                    Religious Education
  • PSHE and Citizenship                   Thinking Skills (Key Stage 2)

Working with computers is a central part of our curriculum. All classes have weekly class and small group sessions in our dedicated ICT suite and every classroom is equipped with an interactive whiteboard and our new interactive learning tool, ActivExpression. 

Weekly Thinking skills lessons taught in KS2 to extend children’s thinking and to help develop lively, creative and enquiring minds. 

Every opportunity is taken to enhance our curriculum with educational visits, visitorsand speakers.
