When I went down to the hall and heard there was a Big Friendly Giant in there I was a little apprehensive but despite the very loud Whizzpopping and some bloodthirsty cries, I was relieved to find a very nice gentleman called Anthony Pedley. He entertained us all regally and provided us with a really exciting version of Roald Dahl's BFG. I was very honoured to have my photograph taken with Mr Pedley as I don't think I have ever met a Royal Shakespeare Company actor before!

Everything seemed to happen at once during the last week of last term. Foundation Stage pupils took part in their Easter Eggstravaganza and Year 6 put their Design & Technology skills to good use (more to follow) - and I enjoyed another trip to Forest School with Year 4.

The Year 6 forms were put into teams of four and given a challenge to build a contraption to lift an egg as high as possible and to then transport it safely across a gap of 50cm into a specially designed container (made of an A4 sheet of card and suitably decorated for Easter). The materials provided were cardboard tubes, art straws, paper, string, sticky tape, dowel rods, pulleys and stickers (with several other items allowed upon request).

Although I missed out on a brilliant afternoon, here is a photo of Year 6 in action:

I have had a really busy time with some of the Year 6 children this week. We had fantastic fun in Maths making 3-D shapes from a 2D net.  It was very tricky trying to get my beak around the word “dodecahedron” but Ellie helped me. I found out that this is the proper name for a 3D shape with 12 faces!

In the afternoon the science room was very dark so that we could learn about light and shadows. The projector made a really good light source. You might be able to recognise me from my shadow.
