Spanish Trip - April 2011

During the Easter holidays, 30 pupils studying Spanish in Years 10 and 11 enjoyed a six day trip to Spain to experience the culture and language of the fascinating region of Andalucía.

We stayed in a very comfortable hotel in Fuengirola and enjoyed excursions to Granada to see the magnificent Alhambra and Albaicin, Córdoba to visit the Mezquita and Alcázar, Marbella/Puerto Banus to see the playground of the rich and famous, Mijas to experience an enchanting white village in the mountains, and Sevilla the cultural heart of the region.

It was very rewarding to see the pupils immerse themselves with such enthusiasm in Spanish culture, enjoying the various places of interest, tasting the traditional food or ‘tapas’, and using the language to interact with the local population. The behaviour of the pupils was excellent throughout. I would also like to thank my colleagues who gave up some of their holiday time to accompany me on the trip: Ms Blencoe, Mrs Grimley and Mrs Groves.
