A Levels are the goal for which every pupil works toward. Our Sixth Form pupils are guided and encouraged towards their own individual success. Class sizes are small and pupils are constantly monitored to ensure that they are achieving their expected standard. Because of this, over 95% of our A Level pupils are accepted into their first choice of university or college.
Whilst academic matters always take priority, there is more to Sixth Form life at Hull Collegiate School than just acquiring a fantastic set of A Level results. This is a time when children become adults and our pupils mature into focused and determined young men and women with high expectations and great ambitions, ready for modern life and learning.
Our pupils have superb opportunities to flourish as individuals here and we encourage them to take on responsibility and develop independence, maturity and leadership skills. This ensures that they are one step ahead when applying for places in higher education, or when entering employment. The Sixth Form is a transitional period, as pupils move from the more structured study style of Year 11, to the self-sufficiency required in Further and Higher Education. It is not a journey however that our sixth formers take alone and we offer them exceptional levels of support as they prepare for university and beyond. We analyse and monitor each pupil’s progress to ensure that they receive the very best academic, career and pastoral guidance.
UCAS applications: how we guide them through the process…
Learning at Hull Collegiate School is a rewarding, enjoyable and meaningful process, full of opportunities for personal development and achievement. Our pupils are creative thinkers who enjoy being challenged. They ask big questions, solve problems and apply their learning to the world with confidence and tenacity. We promote self-discipline, responsibility and respect for learning and we maintain exceptionally high academic standards in every subject.
The pupils benefit from their own study area, complete with computers and quiet work areas. The Sixth Form Common Room provides a relaxed environment with drinks facilities, a kitchen breakfast bar and pool table.
We would be delighted to welcome you to one of our Taster Days which are held each March. These are designed to give prospective pupils an idea of what life in the Sixth Form is really like – from taking part in A Level lessons to checking out the facilities in the Common Room.
