David McLeavy gained an A at Art A Level in 2008 and is taking a BA (Hons) degree in Contemporary Fine Art at Sheffield Hallam University

My time at Hull Collegiate School was greatly beneficial as it gave me an insight into university style teaching.

I think that Hull Collegiate is rare as it teaches A-level at a Foundation Level standard. This made it much easier and I felt much more confident applying for the course I am on now. One main thing that Art at Hull Collegiate has particularly prepared me for is the contextual side of work. The practice of art and the contextual understanding go almost hand in hand. Studying Art at Hull Collegiate has helped me on the theory side which is great as a lot of the time on my course is spent pondering the likes of Walter Benjamin and Clement Greenberg.

Hull Collegiate School was both a fun and rewarding place to be in terms of A levels and I’m glad I had the opportunity to experience it.
