Key Stage 2 Curricular Overview
At Hull Collegiate Preparatory School, we offer a truly memorable learning experience for our pupils. We aim to excite, enthuse and give pupils the opportunity to explore subjects far beyond the National Curriculum.
We inspire pupils to have a life-long love of learning; we foster the skills, attitudes and characteristics that will enable them to thrive and adapt to the changing world in which we live and relish the further academic stretch of the Senior School.
We aim to achieve this by creating a rich and stimulating environment where the pupils feel confident, their natural curiosity is nurtured and they develop a desire to aim high. Our pupils do not shy away from challenges, they go in search of them!
We are committed to providing our pupils with a curriculum that is broad and differentiated to ensure every pupil is stretched and supported in equal measure.
All areas of the curriculum are valued and we aim to offer a balanced and stimulating timetable, including academic subjects, the arts, music, practical activities and physical education. Learning is linked to real-life experiences with opportunities to explore STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Maths) through encouraging abstract and ‘outside of the box’ thinking.
There is specialist teaching for pupils in Key Stage 2 for Music, Modern Foreign Languages, Art, Computing, D&T, Science, Games and Physical Education. We believe in nurturing a love of learning and preparing our pupils with life-long learning skills. By the time our pupils reach Year 6, they can work well independently and have a true zest for learning. This is helped by not being constrained by the national SATs tests; consequently their learning is rich, broad and varied and exciting.
